If you’re like me. Have a ton of scraps. Don’t particularly like cutting. Love scrap quilts! Then this post is for you. With an Accuquilt cutter and these dies you will find hours of scrap busting fun. Check out these great deals currently going on at AccuQuilt.
My favorite dies for scrap busting are the strip dies. I have the 1 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″ and 3″ strip dies. I’ve used them to make log cabin quilts, rail fence quilts and pineapple quilts. I use these dies not only to save time cutting strips. But they are perfect for sub cutting pieced strip sets. Making it look like you spent a lot of time piecing. While saving you the work of doing so.
Another favorite die for scrap busting are the multiple half square triangle dies. I especially like the 2″ finish that gives me 36 half square triangle units with one cut. I also like the 3″ finish multiple half square triangle. It cuts enough for 3 pinwheels with one cut.
I also like that I can combine it with the quarter square die and make flying geese. I like these dies over the 12″ cube set. Because I’ve found that my scraps fit better. So I have less waste. The smaller cube sets 6″ and 8″ don’t seem to have that problem.
See how I use these dies in this video tutorial
Hope this helps you bust through your scraps. Enabling you to create beautiful quilts.
Oh, I love this post! So helpful! I just bought a Go cutter on a good sale. I got the starter bundle with the 8” qube and the 2 1/2” strip die—extremely useful. Great ideas for what other dies to get …thanks!
