As a scrap quilter I’m always on the lookout for scrap busting quilt blocks. Because I don’t really enjoy making the same block over and over and over again, like to mix and match those blocks in sampler and Plan B quilts. The following blocks are part of my Sew Abundant Quilt.
First up is a simple wonky basket with a rick rack handle. For my baskets I pulled small bits from my crumbs basket. You can find more fun ways to play with your crumbs here.
Next is the classic shoo fly block. When I’m not cutting half square triangles from my scrappy chunks using my AccuQuilt I like to use this method. It works well if you have scrappy strips.
Then there is the simple star points block. By combining four of these blocks you end up with a sawtooth star with a four patch in the center. I encourage you to play with it by itself for more fun quilt layouts.
Finally I have striped basket. I played with the width of the strips making the red ones skinnier than the blue ones. I think it would be fun to try other strip set combinations.
