Wonky Tree Block Tutorial

I find a little improvisational quilting is a fun way to spend an afternoon. It relaxes me and feels a lot like play. Are you ready for a little play? Then give these wonky tree blocks a go. My wonky tree tutorial makes them quick, easy and with little waste.

I first made these wonky trees while playing in my sewing room on my birthday. In addition to the triangular evergreen trees I made a few yarn bomb trees and little birdies to nest in all my trees. One of my best birthdays ever. Bonus! I ended up with this bright, happy and whimsical quilt. Meet Enchanted Forest, the pattern is available in my shop along with other improvisational patterns.

Like I said before, my method creates little waste. The tiny bit that is created can be use for wonky star points or in making crumb fabric. Wouldn’t it be fun to combine wonky trees with wonky stars? Oh, the creative juices are flowing. How I wish I had more hours in my day for this creative play.

Are you excited and ready to learn how to make these wonky trees? Great! Let’s get started! Simply grab your scrap bin, sewing machine and this little video. Now you’re ready to play and create.
