20 Half Square Triangle Blocks

The half square triangle block may be one of the most versatile quilting units.  You can create so many designs with it.  Recently I spent a couple of days playing with these cute little building blocks.  This is one of my favorite types of play.  All of a sudden my creative play came up with 20 blocks.  I know I could create more if I spent more time.

Or if I broadened my horizons beyond a 16 patch block.  My Sunshine on a Cloudy Day is made completely with half square triangle blocks.  HST can be created in a variety of way.  I prefer my AccuQuilt Go.  They have many dies for hst in different sizes.  I love the 2″ finished square-multiple die.  In addition I like to use this strip method.

You can also acquire bonus half square triangles as a result of the sew and flip method.  If you take the time to sew another seam.  Here are just a few of the blocks I came up with.

Can you tell I really like pinwheel blocks?  I like the movement they create.  They just make me happy.

I’ve created a YouTube video with the remaining 12.  Here it is.

If you are interested in a quilt pattern for each of these blocks.  I’ve got you covered.  Get your PDF with 20 different quilts using half square triangle blocks.

This could be very interesting. I love the idea no more scrap. What is the finished size of the little hat? I am going to be doing this. It just makes sense to do this with your leftovers. Well done count me in please.
