The scraps continue to fly in my sewing room. I’ve finished all the blocks plus a few more to make it bigger in my mystery quilt. As mentioned I didn’t want to just slap a border on it as was suggested in the pattern.
I used these units to go around the edge of my quilt. I like the way they finish the pattern on the 16 patches and create diamonds where the pattern was beginning to repeat. I think it gives it a more finished feel.
I think it gives it a more finished feel. I’m about half way so I’m hoping today to finish this up and hopefully have a top soon.
Several people have commented on my background, both in class and here on my blog. It is Bella Solid 9900-100. It is one of my favorite solids to use as a background. I also like the buttery yellow of 9900-148 and any gray. Gray is a wonderful background in my opinion. Now is a great time to stock up as the Fat Quarter shop has them all 20% off. Always good to stock up when there is a sale. I know I will and wanted to share the news in case you would like to.
like this pattern and your background
You're right. Your plan for the border really finishes they quilt off well. You must be really pleased with the results.
I hadn't thought about your background fabric but it is a pretty color.
What a great idea to finish the edge! Love the look.
I do like the way you finished off those partial units to make a border. Have you considered putting another small border of background fabric to "float" the diamonds?
