I’ve been getting the itch to make another Plan B quilt. I pulled out my orphan blocks to see where this venture would take me this time. In my bin I found a bag full of bonus hsts. You know the ones that you get from trimming on other projects.
I grouped them by project and started to play. I made broken dishes from one set and then set them into economy blocks.
Another group I made into broken dishes again but set them as stars.
A third batch became these squares on point.
The next batch became this diamond blocks. I have enough to make a couple more of these, plus a few extra that I have other plans for.
I didn’t have time for the last batch but I was inspired by these blocks, from The Way I Sew It. Isn’t it amazing how versatile the hst is? Looking forward to seeing how this Plan B comes together.
I love these. I've been working on using up a bag of them that I have. I have so many. It's like pasta….the more I use the more there seems to be. lol
What fun! And thank you for introducing me to a blogger I didn't know about.
Great idea! These are looking lovely. Reminds a little of Jen Kingwell's Longtime Gone quilts…if you put them all together.
I'm looking forward to how this plan B comes together too.
nice post
You got so much great variety out your bonus HST's, good work!
So glad you shared these! I have a bag of triangles I've been collecting. I LOVE all your ideas. Unfortunately, mine aren't all the same size. I have to get in there and do some sorting to see what I have!
"Like pasta.." is a great description of these HST patches… and like pasta they are endlessly versatile.
I went through my bag last night!! Oh my. I have multiple sizes…some itty bitty, other more usable. I'm not sure what to do with them yet. I might need another pep talk! LOL! I like the idea of making blocks 'as-i-go' as I don't think I have enought to make an entire project!
