Finding Good Homes

I had a ton of fun at Quilt Fest.

One of my favorite parts of Quilt Fest is the orphan block night.

Members of the guild donate orphan blocks

A few volunteers get the daunting task of sorting them into bundles for quilts.

I’ve had this job.  It’s not for the faint of heart.

Then quilters gather for a fun night of creating.

Where lots of orphans find their way into some pretty great quilts.

Orphan blocks become the most interesting and creative quilts. So many colors, ideas and designs, and perfect for gifting. D. Weeks (aka Momma Llama)

It sounds like a challenging, but productive process.

what a great idea and a special way to use those blocks that might otherwise get tossed out!

What a fun idea for orphan blocks. I belonged to a guild at one time that asked the members to donate blocks that were sorted into piles and then a silent auction had. A fund raiser. If I remember correctly, it could be orphan blocks or a block or two made special for the night.
