When it comes to quilting I’m a bit of a free spirit. I don’t really follow the rules. I feel they are more like guidelines.
I’ll be the first to admit that all my points don’t match up. I do work hard, rather play hard, at making something nice. But I don’t sweat if it’s not perfect. In fact I kind of like those little imperfections.
That may be why I love improvisational piecing so much.
In addition to loving this creative style, I also love to teach it.
Helping quilters let their hair down, relax and just have fun as they take an idea and make it their own is awesome.
This happens a little in any class I teach but especially in my free form classes.
So I’m excited to be offering a Free Spirit Club at my local quilt shop,K & H
Each month I will teach a different free form piecing method:
birds, trees, flowers, houses, hearts, made fabric, and more.
I’ll be giving tips on how to combine this whimsical creations. So you will be able to create a one of a kind creation of your own.
If you are not local and would be interested in any of these classes. Let me know I’d be happy to come to you. Or check out the events page on my website to see if I’ll be in your area. I’d love to let my hair down and get crazy with you while we create on of a kind quilts.
I wish we lived closer together…my guild is always struggling to find quilters to bring in for trunk shows and presentations. Your improv piecing would be so fun, but I think the distance (we're in Michigan) would make the cost too high. But your quilts are amazing and an inspiration!
I love love love the sheep quilt. the Tiedyed sheep just cracked me up. Love all the cheerful colors in your quilts.
What a great selection of quilts! Good luck with your classes, they sound like lots of fun.
Wonderful! and yep – I am a lot like you!! ( no rules – just fun)
Wish I lived closer! I always love your improv pieces.
