A while back I pulled a bunch of pink and purple scraps. I used my Go Cutter and this little scrap busting method to cut a bunch of half square triangles. I have dies that cut 3 1/2″ , 2 1/2″, and 1 1/2″ half square triangles. This comes in handy in so many ways. It saves time! It allows me to play with scale! A fun way to add interest to a quilt. Like in this butter fly quilt and my Bear Scraps pattern.
I had fun quilting a garden for my butterflies to play in.
My quilting angel, Sheri bond it for me. Now it’s ready to go to a good home as a Quilty Hug.
I also used my 2 1/2″ half square triangle die to cut out this patriotic quilt. I used the 2 1/2″ strip die to cut the 2 1/2″ squares in bulk. Saves so much time. Just cut your strips and then line them up on the 90* line on your die and cut the other way. You can do diamonds this way also using the other angle lines available on the die.
I may have to do a tutorial on that some time. Let me know if you are interested.
I like the way you mixed large and small butterflies in this quilt. Clever.
Love this! Playing with the scale of your butterflies really adds heaps of interest, very effective!
