Hunters and Fishermen

 Earlier this year my dear friend lost her sweet husband to cancer. In addition to being a fun loving, caring man. One that my boys enjoyed talking with as they headed up the road on their way to hike or play in the mountains behind our homes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. I told my friend I would love to make a memory quilt for her out of his clothes. She chose his t-shirt collection and gave them to me late last week. I bought interfacing and got busy cutting and creating. I love how they all came together. My problem is the quilt is 6″ wider than it is long. I have one white t-shirt left from a fair that my friend said they hadn’t really done anything fun at. In fact she almost didn’t even give me the shirt.

 Even with the shirt I will come up short. Any suggestions on how I can lengthen this quilt? I’ve thought about adding a pieced strip to the top and bottom of the quilt from the leftover pieces of t-shirt. What do you think?

Speaking of hunters and fishermen, I recently made some soap just for them. The sweet anise essential oil takes away the fishy smell on hands and masks the hunters scent while hunting. I sold out of it at my last show and recently had a request. I only had my sampler size. They took that and I got busy making more. It is now done and in my Etsy shop. Even if your not a hunter or fisherman if you like the smell of black licorice you’ll love this bar.
