Needed a little mindless sewing with my scraps. I’ve also been wanting to make a plus quilt. So I combined the two and came up with these.
I started with a 5″ square of background fabric.
Made a wonky cut down the middle
Sewed a bunch of scrappy strips 1″-1 1/2″ in width together until they were 6″-8″ wide.
Cut those into 2″ wide strips
Sewed them between my background fabrics.
Make another wonky cut going the other way
Insert another string piece
And sew into place.
Square up either by finding smallest block and cutting rest down. Or by adding strips of background fabric around your block and squaring up to desired size. I’m not quite sure where this project is going yet. So I haven’t squared my blocks up yet.
Looks like fun. Your scraps are so colorful. Can't wait to see the finish.
Hugs
Fun idea! Thanks for walking the steps out 🙂
Good idea. I think it would look good with a black background too.
Cute wonky blocks in your great tutorial!
Oh this is really adorable –great inspiration…hugs, Julieroe
How fun. Sort of mindless sewing. However it turns out.
