Moving It Forward

I had a wonderful time at Bryce last week. I just love spending time with quilters. It was so good to touch base with Melissa and Sherri again. It seems the only time I get see with these fun, kind and talented ladies is when we teach at the same retreat.

Teaching went well.  I’ll share more of that later this week. And the class I took from Bonnie was great. Did you know we are sisters? Well, not exactly. It’s just that people mistake me for mother, Brenda’s daughter at all the retreats. The fact that we have the same last name and everyone knows Brenda designs with her daughter throws them. Fortunately Brenda claims me. And now I’ve met my sister, Bonnie.

The class was a mystery. My first. I’ve never had the confidence to cut into my fabrics for a quilt not knowing what I’d be making. The fact that this was scrappy, gave me the confidence I needed. I figured my scraps play nice and I’d be happy with whatever the results were.  I am! I was able to get almost half my blocks done. Above are the results. Thanks Bonnie for a great class.

Now it’s your turn. Link up and share your progress. I’m looking forward to being inspired by all the great work you do.

Glad you had fun!! Isn't that funny being mistaken … and claiming it!!!

Quilters are family. Period. It's hard not to feel like you belong with a shared love like this. I'm glad you had a good retreat.

Love it! I have that pattern (or similar) in a magazine and it is on my to do list.

Your class blocks are darling! I've never done a mystery, either, but not out of fear. The design process is my favorite part of quilting, and in a mystery quilt that part is taken away from me! I'd rather wait until the mystery is fully revealed so I can decide if I like it well enough to invest time, energy and fabric in it, and so I can actively plan all of my color and fabric choices.

So jealous! I hope to go to Bryce next year. I guess we must be related, I have been mistaken for Brenda's sister and Bonnie now calls me her Aunt! Miss those ladies since I moved. Love your class project!

Lovely colors in your quilt! I sewed this one up in black and whites. It's almost quilted 🙂

You went to the Bryce Canyon Retreat? I haven't been in many many years and I always loved the wonderful atmosphere there. I did a booth one year and it was still fun.
