Sail on at the Sea Shore with Moda Bake Shop

I’m so thrilled to be a part of the Moda Bake Shop At the Seashore Sew Along.  The beach is my favorite vacation spot.  The sun, sand and sea speak to me.  My hubby and I have a Hobie Cat so sail boats came to mind.  This little block was the result. It uses alittle circle applique.  That is then cut to create the fun wave effect.

For those of you who are visiting from Moda Bake Shop welcome!  As promised here is a cute little baby quilt using my block. You won’t have to make an appliqued circle for each of these blocks because for every three blocks you make you will have enough extra quarter circles for another block.  You can also use the extra half square triangle sails so there is less waste.  I hope you will find this method fun enjoy making this little quilt. First you will want to make 8 blocks like the one you find in the tutorial on Moda Bake Shop.

Next you will make 8 blocks reversing the light blue and navy backgrounds.

Finally arrange blocks into 4 rows of four by alternating the two blocks.  Sew your rows together.

Quilt as desired, bind and share with your favorite baby.

If  you make one I hope you will share it with me.  I’d love to see it!  Share it via email or on Instagram @emsscrapbag.
