Scrap busting with the Accuquilt Strip Dies

I love my Accuquilt cutterand strip dies.  They help me bust through my scraps and make lost of fun bright quilts.  Without it I would be sporting a brace on my wrist after each cutting session.  Thanks in part to my ten year old self breaking her wrist and a little arthritis.

All the quilts and projects you see here were made using my Accuquilt Go and various strip dies.  I use those the most.  There is so much you can do with strips and strip sets.

I’m sharing my methods on another YouTube video.  I hope you’ll take a minute to watch it.  If you like it I hope you will like, subscribe and share.  That way we can help other quilters bust through their scraps and create more beautiful quilts.

And the world can never have enough beautiful quilts.  So share away, we have a world to populate with bright scrappy quilts.

This is great! I just got an Accuquilt this year and I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I pull it out to use it for scrappy projects!

I'm surprised that you find the strip cutter helpful for scrap quilts! I thought the strip cutters were for yardage only. If a piece of fabric is large enough for the giant strip cutting die, is it really a scrap at all? Now I have to check out your video to see what YOU have figured out that I don't know!

Okay, I just watched your video. How fun to see the face behind your blog! :-). One question — the directions that came with my Accuquilt GO! cutter say to always run the fabric through the machine on the lengthwise grain for accurate cuts, since there's a little stretch to the crosswise grain. I see that you are doing the opposite, cutting your strips on the cross grain, and that the strip die is perfectly sized to accommodate WOF folded in half fed through on the cross grain like you're doing. Does the rule about grain not apply to the strip cutting dies? I have accidentally cut some HSTs on cross grain before and seen that the fabric stretched as it passed beneath the roller and those triangles finished too small. But maybe with the strips it doesn't make a difference?
