Well summer has officially began. If you are anything like me, summer is a busy time full of yard work, activities for the kiddies and vacations. Not a lot of time for sewing. But still I need that quilty fix. I don’t want to spend the precious little time I have in the sewing room cutting so I’ve turned to my scraps. If you don’t already know I love scraps. I love the mindless sewing I get from them. So I’ve created a simple challenge. It is summer after all and things should be a little laid back. I call it ‘Scrap Happy Summer Challenge.’
Here are the guidelines. We’re not having rules here. Like I said it is laid back. Please grab my ‘Scrap Happy Summer’ button. (I’m looking for help here as to how to add html so it will link back to this post so others can find us and join in the fun.) Then grab your scraps and make something, anything. Maybe some crumb blocks, like these.
Or a summer companion
A bunch of four patches or another simple block like I did here.
Or something improvisational like my ‘I’m a Maverick Star’ Anything goes. I told you it was simple and laid back. Then each Wednesday come back here and we will all link up and share what came out of our scrap bag. I’m looking forward to seeing what happy scrappy things you create.
Now like I said I’m also looking for a little help with this. I’m not real computer savvy so I’m looking for a little help with Mr Linky and how to add the html to my button. So if you have done these things and can offer a little insight I’d appreciate it. Thanks! Have a great day!
Sounds like fun, Em.
What a cool idea!! I am so overwhelmed at the moment, but even if I don't join in, I will enjoy seeing everybody's projects!
Love the idea – but here in Oz we would have to have a Scrap Happy Winter Challenge – it's cold! Not sure about the Mr Linky business. I know how to put a link in to a specific post but not set up Mr Linky. Try Googling it – I'm sure there's a tutorial out there somewhere! Seems to be one for everything else! Will do a little blog post to support your fabulous idea!
Hugs – Shari
What a great idea, love your maverick stars. Perhaps if you email Amy from Park City Girl about the Mr Linky. She uses it for the Blog tours.
This is a tutorial for the .html for your button.
I haven't done Mr. Linky, but Trisha has (tlcstitches.blogspot.com) she can probably point you in the right direction!
This is really right up my alley right now. I could use a challenge to make a scrap quilt. I might use it as a leaders and enders project. I have always wanted to do one of those.
I have been mulling over my scrap box for a while and this, and seeing Katherine Guerrier for real, will get me going!!
can you give us instructions on how to grab the button. I need something to get me going.
Scrappy is happy. I love it.
I love your laid back challenge, perferct for hot humid summer days. I linked to your post here

Hey! This sounds like a plan to me! I like just being lazy and doing some mindless sewing too in the summertime! Here at home or in my camper with my trusty little Singer Featherweight! Gonna join your little group! Thanks for offering the idea out to us all!
Scrappy is my love )))What a great idea! I've already started to sew a summer scrappy quilt. Marina, Russia
Have cut and pasted your link to my blog, and its worked, no one more amazed than me!
