I’ve had a recent love affair with strips and strings. This quilt may have been the beginning of that love affair. That and the fact that my strips and strings bins have been overflowing. This simple coin quilt is just jelly roll strips sewn together and then cut into coin strips.
I then framed the strips and added background. It makes a quick and easy gift or charity quilt. This quilt features the fabric line Mama’s Cottage by April Rosenthal for Moda. I quilted with simple organic lines, vertical for the background and horizontal through the coin stacks.
What a spectacular quilt! I have always loved Chinese Coin quilts. This is really fresh and pretty!
I LOVE it!! It has such great visual impact!!
this is really beautiful–love the thin framing you did–really sets the strips off to wonderful advantage…nice work hugs, Julierose
Beautiful! I really like this layout for a Chinese Coins quilt. Great use of a jelly roll!
This is so much fun, Emily! Pretty fabric, too!

Gorgeous quilt, great use of scraps for a lovely gift.
Spare Change is a perfect name for your quilt. The last time I made string strips similar to yours, the strips turned out a bit crooked.
