Growing up my dad was in land development. Summers for him were really busy. As a family we never had an extended summer vacation. Instead we always went on our family vacation between Christmas and New Years. That doesn’t mean we never got away during the summer. If my dad could swing it we would get away for a quick get away. He would call my mom from the office and say, ‘pack the motor home.’ My mom got to the point she told us to just put old clothes in the motor home so we would be ready when dad got the urge to go.

This last weekend I followed in my dad’s footsteps. My daughter will be a senior in high school this year and school started yesterday. As one last who ha before summer ended and my daughter grows up completely I decided we would leave after selling soap at the farmer’s market.

We headed south to visit my parents. Luckily we were able to get tickets to Tuacahn Ampitheater.

 Where we enjoyed Newsies.

We also did a little last minute school shopping and swimming in my parents pool. So glad we could follow my dad’s example and get away. Sorry it meant I missed Moving it Forward. I promise to have the link up next week and feature a little progress with these pretty fabrics new from Sherri and her daughter Chelsea, for Moda.
