String Quilt Challenge

The string quilt challenge is over.  There were so many amazing quilts made.  I love seeing the creativity of the quilters as they played with their scrappy strings.

Marie made string blocks in a rainbow of colors.  Her quilt is happy and bright.  I love how the string blocks are grouped and change to pull your eye through the quilt.

Charlotte put her string blocks on point in a square in a square setting.  In addition she framed alternating blocks with piano key sashing.  I also love that she added a border of fireflies.  Her colors are cozy and inviting.
Mary recreated Blowin’ in the Wind pattern in my Crumb Quilts Book.  Her borders are made from scrappy strips. All her orange, brown, gold and green fabrics make for a beautiful fall quilt.

Maxine’s string quilt creates a lovely chevron pattern.  It has inspired me to give this a try with my scraps.  I like how the peaks of the strings come together in V’s.  It gives it a feather kind of affect.

Winners

So there are two winners for this string quilt challenge.  The first is a random drawing.  The second is a viewer’s choice.  The voting has been happening on social media.  The winner of the random drawing is… Mary!  Congratulations!  She has won a $25 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop.

The viewer’s choice goes to Maxine!  Awesome Job!  She has also won a $25 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop.  Have fun shopping ladies.

New Challenge

Now let me announce the next Quilt Challenge.  For this challenge you are to combine 2 or more of the over 150 blocks available through Aunt Em’s Sew Along Adventure sampler quilts and create  your own quilt.  All the blocks come with PDF and video instructions.  They are either 6″ or 12″ blocks.  Making them easy to mix and match.  A $50 gift certificate will be given for viewer’s choice.  Good luck!  I look forward to seeing what you create!
