Moving It Forward How to Make a Scrappy Plus Block

Do you have a layer cake looking to become a quilt? Or do you have leftover layer cake squares? Then the scrappy plus block is for you. It’s quick and easy to whip up a bunch. There are many options on how to set it in a quilt. Plus who doesn’t love a scrap quilt?

Simply cut your layer cake into strips. Sew those strips into strip sets along with some background. Cut again and start whipping up blocks. It’s fun to mix and match the various strip sets to create a colorful scrap quilt.

Once your blocks are made try framing them. Or use sashing and corner posts for another look. You could even stagger the blocks to get a whole different quilt. Try putting them on point. This will turn your plus block into an X block.

Watch this video tutorial to get the details. Then let your self play with the possibilities of the scrappy plus block.
