Scrappy Apple and Easy Piecing Grid

I’ve been having a ton of fun, playing in my scraps. It’s no secret that is one of my favorite things to do. This time I pulled out my reds, greens and yellows to create a scrappy apple. Just one of the design choices in my Scrap Busting Design class.

I recently met Carmen Geddes at a quilt retreat I was teaching at. She had seen my Jumbo Scrappy Star and thought that her Easy Piecing Grid would be a nice fit. She gave me some to try. So I’ve been experimenting. First I made Happy Jack. I’m also planning a Bad Jack. Watch for it.

With fall and cooler temperatures on my mind I decided to try a scrappy apple. Creating a quilt plan was fun. My original design didn’t include a leaf. But I feel it was needed. I had fun creating the pieced blocks.

I used the Easy Piecing Grid in place of my design wall. It takes some time to get everything laid out. But once you do. Your project goes together lickety split. I’ve added a bonus module to Stash Busting Design to showcase tools that make the process easier. This method is included. Doors will be opening soon. If you are looking for a fun way to up level your ability to combine color, value and movement in your quilts. This class is for you!
