Learn to Make a Floating Nine Patch

A floating nine patch is a simple spin on a classic quilt block. Let the whole nine patch float like in Floating Boxes. Or just let the x float as in this quilt. Where the frame is the same fabric as the center edge pieces.

I like to make this block using jellyroll strips. You can find great jellyrolls at the Fat Quarter Shop. It makes it quick and easy. Especially when you sew strips together in sets of three and then sub cut.

I like to use this method using the Accuquilt Go. (Did you know they are having an event on Tuesday the 24th. If you’ve been thinking about a Go this event may help you. They will have discounts and prizes, including fabric from Michael Miller. Follow the link to register.) With this method you can cut your strips from your stash and bust through a bunch of scraps.

Are you ready to learn how to make this easy block? Great! Let me show you.

As always make sure to share what you create on the Facebook page. I love to see how you make it your own. Plus everyone in is so nice. You’ll get lots of positive feedback.
