Precise Piecing Made Easy

Achieving precise piecing can be difficult.  I struggle with it from time to time.  While I do my best to have my seams match and my points remain pointy I don’t beat myself up when they don’t.  That said, a key to precise piecing is precise cutting.  Looking for tips to improve your piecing through accurate cutting?  Try this post.

The easiest  way to have accurate cutting is to use a die cutting machine, like the AccuQuilt Go.  I love mine!  Not only does it cut your pieces perfectly.  It eliminates the need to cut off dog ears.  Another thing you should do to improve your piecing accuracy.  Dog ears can get in the way of lining up pieces precisely.  Leading to things not matching up perfectly.

AccuQuilt’s block on board (BOB) are wonderful for precise and difficult blocks.  I used the Carpenter’s Wheel for this quilt

And the Double Wedding Ring for this runner.

Another block on board I have used is the butterfly.

I like that I can cut out these intricate blocks quickly and accurately with the AccuQuilt System.  These tools can be expensive.  I find that they are well worth the expense.  You may want to try my favorite scrap busting dies before you invest in a block on board.  Unless you plan on making a lot of those blocks.
